This is the kind of diorama I dream of creating.
This looks like a painting from the old masters that has sprung into 3D right off the canvas. You can almost hear the chaos of battle when you look at it. From every angle, the composition is perfect. Paint and sculpture are flawless.

It's very rare that something is hands-down Best Of Show, with pretty much everyone agreeing that the judges made the right decision. But this is one such case, and rightly so in my opinion.

Well we're all in agreement here then. I've seen this piece a few times now but looking at it again, what strikes me is the terrific tonal range of the painting. Is this copied from a pre existing painting? I don't know, but just look at how the whole paint job is balanced. Although it includes primary colours, red and blue, nothing jumps out from the overall subdued effect. Everything seems to be in balance. Colourful but not at all garish, not something easy to achieve on such a large composition. Fantastic!
