Hi Igor,
I also think this would be great inspiration for a project in the future...great tragedy for Kievan Rus, but such a rich story..one of my most fav painting...

Wow, great work and a great subject. The 3 Bogatyrs (legendary heroes of Kiev Rus) which Igor mentions are Alyosha Popovich, Dobrynya Nikitich and Ilya Muromets. The painter Viktor Mikhailovich Vasnetsov painted the 3 of them together. they lived during the reign of Vladimir I of Kiev, in the 10th century and each was known for specific character traits or prowess. Muromets was known for his physical and spiritual strength and his devotion to his homeland. Here is the pic, showing Dobrynya Nikitich on the white horse and Muromets in the centre.

I hope that we can get these in the UK soon!
