The mixed blessings of age.....

I've noticed of late a few of our - shall we say - more senior members
giving way to the age related malaise of 'grumpiness' So I should like
to address them in particular if I may.....

'With age comes wisdom' - even in the face of what sometimes
feels like unbearable provocation over heated emotions have
to be governed and not unleashed in an uncontrolled rant - that's
for the younger less disciplined element to indulge themselves.
For us 'wrinklies' we have the responsibility of keeping schtum and
not calling out poor workmanship or vapid opinion - for only then
can we be the mature voice of reason - the calm amid the storm.

'With age comes wisdom'.... does it buggery ! With age comes raging
frustration and despair. Frustration with every bad photograph, and
over saturated layer of paint. Despair at the lack of applied thought
behind every sycophantic comment of 'Wow' and 'will it be available
in 500mm' and 'lovely paint job' over a figure that's not worth a look .
Whenever these thoughts start to rear their head I switch off the site
for a time until I'm nice to know again.

I'm glad this one has raised a smile.....for I sometimes think
we're in danger of taking ourselves too seriously. This is as
good a time as any to mention that I shall be off grid for a
little while as I am scheduled shortly for some essential
'modifications' - my right knee has been a bugger for some
years and is destined to be cashiered and replaced by one
worthy of the name. Whether it's to be hand sculpted or 3D
printed I'm unable to say...but I'm sure it'll work better than the
one I have now...so.....back 'dreckly.

As long as it's not Milliput you should be ok..... Best of luck with the surgery. One of my hips is on the way out, just trying to gauge when I have to give in to t he inevitable and have it done.
