I recently completed this representation of Italian WW1 fighter ace Francesco Baracca from The Model Cellar, sculpted by Mike Good. Initially a cavalryman, Baracca used the prancing black horse (Cavallino Rampante) as his emblem, when he became at fighter pilot. His first aircraft was a Nieuport 17, which I've also build as part of this project (Italeri 1/32). On June 19th 1918 Baracca was killed in action, and after the war, his mother presented Baraccas emblem to the promising young Italian race car driver, Enzo Ferrari, whom later made it famous through his automotine company.
Having painted a number of large scale busts, this is just my third figure in this scale (along with two pieces in 1/35, which of course comes close in size), som I'm pretty pleased with the result. But, man! it's difficult, and there's still lots to learn.
