Following on from the review I did earlier in the week I have now done some work on the figure starting with the head. As I said, there is plenty of character in the face. He is painted using acrylics and washes.

Thanks Bob and Mick.

Bob I use Andy undercoat of either Tamiya grey or Halfords undercoat. Then a couple of coats of Andrea Gold from Hannants. Once dried I do a selective black acrylic wash then a light coat of gloss varnish. After many trials I find that gives a nice slightly dull brass finish and not too bright.

Thanks Chez, I could never get a satisfactory brass finish, I will try this cheers.

Anytime mate....this method suits me. I’m terrible with anything gold, white and silver!!

White and Silver, no problem.
for white, I use deck tan base and ivory highlights and pure white for extreme highs. (Vallejo)
Silver is Heavy metal base (scalecolor) lights, silver verde (darkstar) shade with black oil colour thinned with white sprit but not too much white spirit

Thanks mate. I’m going to order some new paint so today I think. Silver is hard for scale I always find. I even looked at using greys for it.

Off to a good start. Thanks for the tips for painting gold and thanks to Bob for the tips on painting silver.
