Ladies and gentelmen, if you could enter into a time machine and go back in history where would you go and why?

Cheers

Roc. :)

Good topic Roc..........I would love to go back into the early 1800's and persue my dream of being a Mountain Man exploring and trapping the streams of the Rocky Mountains. Live among the Crow people durring the winter and learning their culture first hand.

well roc i kinda of have the same thought as guy except i would love to hang with the siuox and learn the language how to fight and hunt and all that great stuff.that would be my destination.thanks johnny

Easy: June 5th., 1944 at some airfield in southern UK. Perhaps Uppotery?
Why not June 6th 1944, somewhere in Normandy ? ;) C'mon Petey, you might as well go all the way!

... As for me, I'd really rather not go back to any conflict in the past unless as a witness from a distance- the epic but tragic cavalry clash at Mars-la-Tour in 1870 must have been quite something ..., but I really would like to see some of the West when it was still Wild ... seeing it through the eyes of fe. a Cheyenne or Sioux brave must be a beautiful (but perhaps saddening) experience. Imagine seeing millions of Buffalo thundering over the plains ... wow. What a kick.

I would love to go along with Marco Polo on his journey to the far east. I can't even begin to imagine what that must have been like.

A second choice would be France in 1915 to witness and maybe be a part of the incredible development of flight during WWI.

I would go to the first three days of July 1863, being sure to visit Little Round Top on the 2nd.
Amen! Although LRT is more hype then anything.

2nd choice D-Day

3rd choice 1860s Natchez MS to meet the real Captain English

4th choice Port Hudson

5th choice Vicksburg

6th choice Ishandlawana (SP?) or Rorkes Drift

7th choice The Peninsula

8th The Alamo

9th Little Big Horn

10th some European like Waterloo or the Western Front

11th and final Africa 1914 to meet Lettow-Vorbeck

I would go back to 1991 and try to see Michael Jordan , Magic and Bird play togheter in the all star game . Also would get some Slam Dunk Contests...
Would go to Berlin in 1999 and try to get tickets to see Rammstein Live aus Berlin Concert , then I could Die happy .

I'd be back in 1961 as a member of the Shadows, on the stage of the London Hammersmith Odeon and playing ...'Apache'. :):)

And doing the famous Shadows Walk, too!

Q.

Id go back two hours to see where the heck Ive placed my car-keys! ;)

Nah, just kidding Figureteers!

Lutzen 1632 to see how Gustav II Adolf really died(Lion of the north).

793 Lindisfarne. So we can claim selfdefence whenever it comes up.

991 Battle of Maldon. To see what really happend to Burthnorth.

Ca 700 Bråvalla. To see if that battle really took place or if its only myth.

1000 L'Anse aux Meadows. To visit the viking settlement and determent how large and organized it was.

1944 Villiers Bocage.

1718 Fredriksten. To see how Karl XII(Charles XII) met his death. Murdered? By the way, are that bust making progress Gary?

Cheers

... Gosh, obviously some of you really would want to be in some of them bloody battles of the past ... I'm wondering what you guys are normally doing on a saturday evening ... ?!?

Much has been written about the great conflicts in the past, but one comment I'll always remember was from a simple, nameless British soldier who had been at Waterloo - he'd only remember that he had been wet, cold and miserable most of the time, and run over in the mud by French Cuirassiers several times. According to him it wasn't a very nice experience.

Oh, and I'd like to add just one myself - I'd love to witness the building of the first pyramids and the sphinx from a distance, just out of curiosity - I'm ever and always intrigued by stuff like Von Daniken's theories ... does the great Pyramid really hold an "Orion" mystery ???....

... Guess what I'll do one of these saturday evenings - think I'll go to the theatre and see ... AVP !!! :)

I have a couple points in time I would like to go back to; first, to any Hussar Regiment in the early 1800's (those uniforms are just awesome!), and for personal reasons, to October, 1993...

I'd like to go back to a time where our knowledge is thin and only spurious archaeolgical eveidence exists;

namely various points through celtic culture - find out what they really wore, see them through their eyes and not through the eyes of roman scholars; end those arguments once and for all!!!

Then sculpt a true celt!

That's a difficult one.

First i wanne be with the Woodstock festival (the first one) and playing together with Jimmy Hendrix.
Then i wanne to be on the great concert off Stevie Ray Vaughan with Eric Clapton etc. I wanna be one off the greatest bluesgitar players next to Stevie.

Third i wanna be far before the time counting with the first homo sapiens to see how beautifull the nature was.

Then i wanna be next to Napoleon and see how he managed the war.

There are more options but then i gotta go write a book.

Marc.
