Hi,
Does anyone know if the time indicated is when the auction ends? Or is it the time it begins? If it refers to the time the auction begins, there's no indication of how long the auction will last.

As far as I know, those are the starting times. Although people can bid ahead of time, it's a live, interactive auction. The bids placed ahead of time will be considered, but it's possible to be outbid on any given item you may have placed a bid on, when it comes up in the auction.

There's no indication of when the auctions end, because they can't know that. With 1300 items, spread between 2 sessions, I estimate it will take several hours over both days.

Prost!

Why not use ebay ?

I’m assuming Mr Robinson’s family is using the auction house because they take care of the listings, pictures...

Yes. On top of dealing with Chuck's passing, and his son-in-law's, they didn't need to sit down and process 1300+ items themselves through eBay.

As far as the website goes, I can't say, but the auction house itself is reputable, so I'd trust their decision about the platform they choose to use.

Thanks Brad

I spoke to one of the auctioneers by phone. He told me they switched it to invaluable due to international interest which auction zip doesn’t support. He said they should still be on auction zip. I’ll see if I can find it. Also both sites are owned by the same company so the perceived risks are the same.

A couple of the pieces that I painted for Chuck are up today. Trying to decide whether to buy them back,

I bid in the auction for my personal collection but I admit selling the redundancies and kits not of my periods of interest will result in a few lots paying for themselves. Even at the large discounts I plan on posting.

Sad to see a mans dedication to the hobby put up for auction.. But this is the way of the world... My kids will just rent a skip bin for my grey army to depart in. I think... I too bid on a few lots.. but didnt win so fingers crossed, many of the doubles will be put up for sale at reasonable prices...

Yup, I tried 5 times to Register and even contacted the auctioneers twice as to why my credit card was not accepted!! Just a reply of...please try again!! I gave up...pity because I would have loved the Brian Stewart Version of Poste Militaires Vlad the Impaler....always loved his Version of this classic and certainly would have bid more than the 110 dollars which it was sold for.Spoke with Chuck many times about his collection and when he told me he had this I was jealous....Wonder what happened to the Bill Horan figures he had in his collection??He had the mounted figure which is used as the World Expo Logo!!
Regards
Pete

I was fortunate enough to win five lots. That switch to Invaluable threw me off at first too, but then I found my original registration on AuctionZip was still there. I'm not an expert on figure values but it was painful to see the vast majority of Chuck's finished figures going for such low bids. Some seemed not to even cover the price of the base alone. I am not speaking badly of anyone who bid on them. It's just a shame to see a someone's lifetime passion put on the block and go for those amounts. I told the wife that will be the fate of my collection someday. I got several Scale 75 Figures, 12 Art Girona 70mm figures, a grouping of Tartar busts/figures, A collection of Russian Figures/busts from several manufacturers and Resi-cast field guns and other armor items. I plan on making the duplicates from the lots available to my fellow club members first, then whatever is left, maybe vend at a show, (if possible in the near future)
Hopefully the shipping won't be a nightmare. In my case, I'm on the other side of the state, but regardless, it was a nice distraction for two days.

Unfortunately that is how things go. It’s like that with gaming figures too. Unpainted kits will always go for more even if expertly painted. I hope my cabinet is bursting at the seams when I die. So my relatives can look at what I accomplished in my favorite hobby. Then they will turn around and sell it all for pennies in a garage sale :)
