Hi Graham

Nice start on the colours on all , good blocking in as well

These are going to look fine for sure

Are you using oils for the actual highs and shadows

Look forward to more from your bench

Thanks Nap. No oils on these at all, trying to get to grips with acrylic. They are a bit glossy at the moment due to the paint I am using.

Bit more progress but still a long way to go..... Surprising how many hours have gone into these really enjoyable.

I am not a traditional flat painter so I do not go for the strong highlights and shadows, it is a technique I don’t find easy but I may take them a bit further once I have finished detailing. Gold work on Olga and the Tsar is not the finished colour, more a mapping out.

So, gold and silver to do and a bit more detailing then the inevitable trying to tidy them up.

Also got another few of these lovely resin semi flats from Ken at Mil-Mart so I now have five waiting in the wings.

Many thanks. The bust of Larrey, Napoleons Surgeon in Chief that I posted a picture of earlier on this post would suit you down to the ground Nap, and he has a medal ;)

Graham, great work so far and very neatly painted. I know you said you're using Acrylics but what make, particularly the yellow?

Thanks Ken. I am mainly using some budget artist acrylic that I bought ages ago when trying to learn how to paint landscapes. They are made by a company called Castle (48 tubes in a box) and, to be honest, they are not great for miniatures as they are very transparent. The yellow is their ‘Dark Yellow’ but there must be ten coats on there and it isn’t covering very well.

Calling these finished now. They have been a real pleasure to do and although they could be better, I am fairly happy with them.

Just going to get them ready for a final photo shoot and they will be posted in completed figures section. Great thing about flats/semi flats, you don’t need photos from all angles :D

Thanks Nap. I am thinking of framing them, just put them in the completed section showing how I might do that. Many thanks for your kind comments.
