Hello gentlemen,
I'm Alexandre, a long time follower of the great works and tips we can see here.
I'm a former military modeler but since few month I've decided to have a go at figure sculpting.

I would like to show you my latest project, a 1.20 scale middle aged men.
This is my third try, so I'm pretty aware of the progress to be done, but I'd like to hear your thoughts about it.

Regards.
Alexandre.

Welcome on the Planet Alexandre,

You've surely picked about the hardest thing you could possibly try: sculpting a face..! :)

Although it looks like you've got the general positions of eyes, mouth nose etc. about right I have to be honest with you and he's not yet looking fully 'human'. He looks a bit like a bankrobber with a stocking over his head.

Here's my list of recommendations that I hope will help you:
- the area where the eye sockets meet the nose need further definition and deepening;
- the bridge of the nose is too bulky
- the cheeckbones need to come outward (protrude) more (now they are a 'deep' area)
- the area between nose and upper lip needs to come outward more
- the lower lip should be less wide.

I hope I'm not hammering too much with my observations...I respect your bravery to tackle this very much! I hope you continue!

Cheers,
Adrian

Can't add anything to what's already been said. Welcome to figure work, your effort shows an ability for schulpting. Your proportions of the head appear to be dead on. To me thats the hardest part. So just work on refinning your details. Good luck and keep us up todate.

Hi Alexandre,

Welcome to Planet Figure. The best advice I can give you is to study human anatomy and observe human faces with a sculptors eye.

The only way to improve your skills, whether its painting or sculpting, is to practice. Your second attamept will be twice as good as your first and so on.

Planet Figure is a great showcase of what is possible in the fields of sculpting and painting and there is no shortage of expertise and encouragement that will be willingly shared with you, if you ask for help.

Hello gents and a thanks for taking time to read and post your thoughts.
I'm really happy to have the opportunity to get all your really constructive comments. Greatly appreciated.
That's just what I need to battle on with sculpting, cause working for hours on it I can say I've lost my objective eye on my work.
Thanks again, for giving tips that might be obvious for most of you.
Indeed what a warm welcome.

Update soon, will try to improve it.

Cheers,
Alexandre.
