So pleased to actually have something to show folks around here! My latest work is a relief sculpture of a sharpshooter from the old west I've entitled it "The Western Girl". Its a relief plaque created in Super Sculpey, its dimensions are Height: 110 mm, Width: 83 mm and Thickness: 10 mm. What you see here is the final finish once the primer has been added then re-worked for moulding.

Here is a work in progress image.

And lastly a photo of the resin casting.

Very nice, it is like a cameo, would be interesting to try sardonix or agate effect - fusion of Ancient Rome and Wild west;)

The cameo effect is exactly what I was after, I have been studying examples of Wedgewood Jasperware to see how the old masters achieved the results, in particular John Flaxmans work (that man was a genius!)

My wife collects 18C Wedgwood so I have seen a lot of Flaxman's and others' work up close. You are right on track to emulate some of those great artists. I really like some of the 3/4 views you find on some of Wedgwood's portrait plaques. Amazing undercutting and molding given the tecnology of the day.

I think it was in one of your posts you mentioned him, I would never have discovered his work otherwise (y)

Rich,

That is one beautiful bit of work , amazingly smooth ...

is this based on a portrait of a "Western girl" ...

I am intrigued about the medal on a ribbon at her neck ?

Looking forward to seeing this come to life
