I hope your efforts to introduce him to modelling are more successful than my grandad's were to introduce me. He had bought me a balsawood model plane and one day all the parts were laid out neatly on the carpet in front of the (open) fire in my grandparents' living room, awaiting my arrival so that we could assemble it together. Except I thought it was just a load of firewood, and chucked most of it onto the fire before we got started while his back was turned. I only very vaguely remember it but my mother still pulls my leg about it to this day.
