Janne,

Great work on this figure. I really like the banner. Is it closed in with the figure or is it homemade.
How did you the metalwork. Polish???
But if you allowed me, i have something to nitpicking on your base. I find the grey underground with the dried grass not match. I never seen a greyish underground where gras is groing. Seems a little metal to me. And it is so monotone.
Sorry for that, but your figure is awesome.

Marc

Thanks for the comments!

The steel is Printers Ink mixed with Humbrol 21 Gloss Black. I shade and highlight that as clothing. More black to the shadows and pure Printers Ink on the extreme highlight.

It sure looks a little grey. I think it looks more grey in the pictures than in real life. I used Humbrol 98 Choclathe Brown for the base, black wash and drybrushing with Humbrol 26 and 187. However Im gonna go over the base again and especially the grass.

And Marc, allways feel free to write what you think. Sometimes I wish more people did but I also realize its a sensitive path to wander. :)

Cheers

WOW! Great painting work! Excellent looking steel and the banner!
As to heraldry - the field supposed to be black or grey? Grey is very unusual color in heraldry I think.

Janne, my friend, I wish I could freehand heraldry as well as you! This is the main reason I don't paint more ancient figures. You have done a remarkable job of keeping your lines straight and heraldry the same size. Keep up the great work buddy!

Thanks Janne,
Yes, sometime's i'm afraid off saying what i think about a figure.
I'm just two years in figure painting, and what can i say to the guys (i don't know who) who are painting for age's, they gave me comments to improve my skills. So who iám I?? And can the student be better than the teacher???????? Very slippery path.
I am glad that they did it.
But sometime's i've got that feeling, that it isn't right to say that the painting (in my opinion) is as good as others say.
I'll really hope that i write it down very good so that there is no misunderstanding about what i mean.

Greetings.

Im not quite satisfied with how the colours come out on the pictures.

Marc!
I allways try to mix criticism with pointing out good areas as well. But one has to follow a certain modeller for a while to see where hes at and where hes going.

Vlad!
The coat of arms are sable and dor.
That means black and white.
I usually have a warm grey as a basecoat. This because I save the pure black for the shadows and because the colourisation in the middle ages wheren that good and cloth faded quickly.

But I do think the light makes it look a little bit greyer than it is in real life.

Hejsan Janne
Great work
We met at C-4 and I am more impressed with this figure than your raptors, but then again I am not "into" dinos
See you in Stockholm in April next year

Janne, I'm in no position to critique your work specially since your so much bigger than I am ;) but I was wondering if you where going to be at Long Island this year?

I would love to go to Long Island if I didnt lack the time and funds, John!

Ive met so many nice people and so much fun(without being arrested) in Boston. It surely would be great to meet again.
Im planning to go to next Euro and of course Girona in 2008.
Ill try my best to attend at least one more show in North America. :)
Pehaps with another box, and I might let you do the script on this one too. ;)

Cheers

 I'd love to do the script Janne. I've written a few things on the Big A that several people seemed to like, here's a link to them if your up for some "interesting reading". The first link is to a response to a guy named Kencelot who was trying to convince me to get more active with modeling than I am. The second story is just me being me responding to Aj Lafleche's excitement pertaining to his new found mushroom addiction from a company called Buch, out of Germany. Naturally, being silly is half the fun. Enjoy!

Reponse to someone pushing me to do more modeling.

Aj Lafleche's mushroom addiction

I can see your position about Long Island, I'm just glad that I got to meet you in World Expo! I agree, that was a great time. I don't know if I can make Girona in 2008, my health sucks. Enjoy the short reads! Good talking to you again. :)

Janne,

How are things? I think you have done a really nice job on the banner and the heraldry. I would love to paint more knights but that heraldry thing keeps getting in my way!! All jokes aside I really like the look of the knight and the black tunic, very well done. I think the groundwork could use a little more improving like Marc said. I think it may have helped if you made it just a bit more uneven instead of keeping it so flat, I think it would have made a big difference but this is not to say that I would not proudly display it in my curio.

All the best and I look forward to seeing more of your work and hopefully see you over here before the next WE.

Joe

Hi Janne.......

You did a really superb overall job on this one.......... and as you said to Marc, its the best way to improve when one is open to "observation" from the membership over here

Bravo ;)

Take Care,

Ray :)
