it's a difficult piece like I can see,but it looks very nice already, just enjoy it
and we will see the final result (y)

Good start, I love the dark blue of the jacket. So many Napoleon (and Napoleonic figures) have the coat colour too light for my liking.

You're making nice progress with this.

Slow mate ....back to bench today after a hectic week

Thanks for comment .....going to start on the head today as waiting for some colours to give the goldwork a go like Joe Hudson did ....I live in hope

Have fun everyone

Cheers ..not happy with the way it's going , new paints due today for the goldwork ...so hopefully that will happen

Put a little texture in on the headwear

Painted the hair but going to highlight more , redid the blue .....it's not as light in reality ...happy with the red !!

No reason I should be struggling on this , the sculpt and print is really good

Couple of iffy pics

It's looking pretty good mate, I think the blue needs to be a little lighter than the real thing because his complexion is so pale, stop him looking washed out. What paints are you gonna use on the gold?

Cheers Simon

Thanks Si , might push the shadows a bit more but will have another look , I've not done anything on the flesh yet just a basecoat

Here's the colours I going to try using (Joe Hudsons colours he used on his larger version)

Nice start on your version of the bust. It may be the lighting but the blue jacket does look very light and somewhat too saturated.

I really like the idea of seeing a lot of painters tackle the same piece for comparison of technique and style, not necessarily as competition but as a showcase. I hope we can get more such events on PF.

Cheers Kev, I stopped doing NMM when I stopped painting fantasy gaming pieces, often tried (and largely failed) to add some green but that wouldn't work on lace. Be interesting to see your version.

Had Dunstan round briefly today, he's looking forward to seeing you at BC.

Cheers Simon

Hi Guys

Apologies not been around for a while ...family stuff again !

Simon ....looking forward to seeing young Andy as well ...he'd best bring some decent biscuits ...lol

Malc ...thanks......still ongoing with this , concentration seems astray a tad

Finished up the main lacework on the lapels and front , still to do edges ....it looks better in reality !

Couple of iffy pics click on for a larger image

Only one comment Kev, turn the light on next time you take iffy piccys! The blue looks nice and rich mate and the lace work pops out nicely.

Cheers Simon

That blue looks good, seems much deeper than you had previously. Shows off the excellent braid detail nicely.
