This was on Sky News this morning . " a Scottish women on the Jeremy Kyle Show used the most obscene swear word ever heard on live TV (for every one outside the UK Jeremy Kyle is the UKs version of Jerry Springer ) OFCOM the board who oversee the contents of programs are not going to take any action . Their reasoning being, be because of her strong accent only a very small percentage in a very small area of Scotland if they were watching would have understood what she actually said . So what chance has the rest of the world understanding English when someone on national TV is Unintelligible to us .:rolleyes::ROFLMAO:
chippy

:D:ROFLMAO: Too right! I'd forgotten that one, thanks, Paul.
I had an old uncle who's grasp of the finer points of syntax, in English, made for some odd quotes. Like, "Where were you going when I saw you coming home last night?" And a classic, on breaking wind very loudly, " O, Duw, shit myself have you ?"
Alan

My favourites:-

Who's coat's that jacket?

What's on those ham sandwiches then?

I came back outside and there was my bike....GONE!

Paul.

Or as my Nan would say on a Friday, being a good catholic Irish women.
We wont have fish at all, we'll have tin Salmon.
Or
Arranging to meet after school.
If you get there first put a stone on the bridge,
If I get there first I'll knock it off.

When travelling on a bus as a student, there was a drunk who was walking up and down the aisles asking if anyone had any cigarettes. When he had done the rounds and not got a single offer, he turned round and addressed the entire bus by saying in his thick Stoke accent, "anner any on yer any on em on yer?", which roughly translate as "haven't any of you got any of them about your person..?!"(y)

Ox tongue.....one of my absolute favourite meats.
I used to help my granny prepare, cook and press the tongues.
Loved cleaning and trimming the root of the tongue but the smell as it cooked will never leave me.
Another favourite I used to help her with was tripe. There used to be a butchers in Darlington market that sold the different types. Might pop over when I'm at S&L (y)

Now we're taling - I love tongue and tripe(not together though). Another wonderful dish I ate in spain is shhep's stomach chopped up and cooked with herns and spring onions - delicious.

Just realised I was cooking with a person who was born in the 19th century.

My favourite Spanish dish for lunch is Frito Mallorquin, so long as it's made with a range lambs offal.
There's a great wee restaurant up a side street in Peurto Pollensa called C'an Ferra run by a local family and the Mama makes the best ever.
