To the site owners

Dear owners whoever the hell you are, why don't you get off your arses and DO something ? here's some handy hints...
1) Appoint some more admins/mods whatever who can do the job you either don't want to/can't be bothered to do
2) Sort out membership so it needs some sort of approval basis/registration so these spamming twats can be if not got rid of at least slowed down
3) Come out of the woodwork and let us know exactly what is going on with the site is it sinking beyond hope or what ?
4) If it's financial speak to us I am sure if you said look we are struggling for cash people will understand and try and assist perhaps a nominal fee of say £5 yearly would suffice make this payable on joining and that again will slow down if not stop the spam

I for one really, really want to be part of this site but the way it's being run at the moment means I can't see it lasting for much longer.
Finally as I've gone to the trouble of making this post I'd be grateful if somebody/anybody from the admin side could answer it

Well, indeed the site obners need to act.
Spamming and Trolling is a long established part of internet interaction.
The threads which are causing such offensive currently aren't actual spam advertisements, they are trolling attempts.
Some nob head simply copies a part of some other legitimate medical forum and pastes it here in an attempt to flare up an hysteric reaction.
It would appear they've been successful.....The simple and most effective treatment is of course an aggressive attack by online forum moderators.
But due to the lack of any effective moderation here our best action would be to totally ignore the current trolling threads....do not respond in any way.
Trolls calculate their success by numbers of responses and level of aggravation caused in any particular forum.....so take it easy.

Ok, it's become obvious lately we're out on our own as far as moderation is concerned. But at least two members known to us all are moderators and we can assume they must be in contact with the admin in some way.
We must all send a private message to Tommi and Kaz, and ask the type of questions that Steve has put forward. Given my own experience sending such a messages we could wait up to two weeks for a response, but it has to be done.

But in the mean time, hold the front line!....Why dump a perfectly good forum because some spotty fucking juvie has a go at pissing you off.
Don't get pissed off at the forum, get pissed off at the moderation but only after having a go at slapping them across the face a couple of times.

I'm going to send the PM's now.....you do the same.

I have to agree Mark, but I can''t resist feeding the fuckers.
Although I do believe sharia law should be imposed on the little tosser.
Very difficult to use a keyboard with stumps.
Trolling isn't the only issue.
Constant 403 errors, my inability to post any form of image and the pages taking forever to load.
I haven't the patience, and I'd be far better spending my time painting.

Tommi, I'm sure you haven't noticed, but the natives are restless.
There's been a spell of trolling and spam which has caused some aggravation amongst members.
There's been shit like this before but the feeling this time is much stronger because of the total disinterest by the moderators.
On top of these regular expected spam and trolling offenses most members still feel pissed off because we've never had an explanation of the "disappearance" of Gordy as administrator.
The current administrator seems unknown to all of us and quite aloof which ads to the current ill feeling.....repeated invitations to simply have a chat and let themselves be known to the members have been meet with silence.

Tommi, please as a long time member of this forum can you please let all members know WTF is happening......cheers Mark S.

The current wave of spamming with pseudo-medical gibberish is extremely annoying to say the least, and of course I'm completely ignorant about the amount of work and time involved in running a website like this, but what's most unsettling is that next to nothing seems to be done to stop this stuff. It gives one the eerie feeling of being on a ship with no captain aboard, or worse no crew at all, so come on moderators get off your bums and act! In my career me and my pals have grumbled through many a bumpy C-130 flight, but at least there was always a pilot aboard, be it an air force one!

Hello everyone, and first of all I must apologize everything about spam issue and lack of explanation about inside of pF.

Currently the staff is Pawel, Tommi, and me. (Tommi doesn't have enough time to commit here these days)
Pawel took the ownership over from Gordy, so this is the reason "disappearance" of Gordy as administrator.

The owner has the authority to give rights to other members, to make final decisions about the site. My authority for maintaining the sites is given from the owner (weaker than the owner), and I have authority to deleting threads, reported spams, modifying typos, etc. Reason why I was joined staff was when Gordy needed Japanese speaking members to help as a moderator. last year I asked Pawel to give me the admin rights to deleting and modifying threads and comments 'cause I needed to do it to help admins.

So I must admit and apology to you all that it was my mistake to missed deleting spam threads. I'm very sorry.

Thank you Kaz, I know it wasn't aimed at you individually, just frustrating.
It is also a big task for yourself to take on your own, I myself thought there were a few of you.
I think a couple of extra moderators to work alongside you is all that is needed and to help take the workload should we get spammed again.

I also want to apologize for the delay in dealing with spam. We installed a new Captcha system couple of weeks ago, but and as much as it helps with spam bots, it will never prevent manual spammers.

To address your concerns:

1) Spam - please use the 'Report' link as soon as you see a spam post. I will have it removed as soon as I receive the report. If the number of spam posts can't be controlled this way, I will look into manually approving new members, or restricting their posting to a certain forum. As much as it is inconvenient it will protect the forum from spammers.

2) Trolling/Disagreements/Forum Moderation - resolving those issues requires a good knowledge of forum members and ability to be a good communicator. I will contact selected members if they will be willing to help. If you would like to recommend someone please PM me with their name.

3) Technical issues - please PM me if you have any technical issues with using the forum. Problems with uploading images or posting can usually be quickly resolved by adjusting permissions.

Please PM me with any issues you have, and thank you for bringing it to my attention. As much as spamming and trolling become an integral part of the internet, there is no place for it on PF.
