The two figures are finished. They turned out pretty well although the shoes could be better and the haversack on the guy with the pipe ended up being "overshaded" and the contrasts are too extreme for my liking. But I'm happy to live with it.

I had to clear a space on my desk to take the photos.....

Now it's on to the mortar and ground work.

Great painting Nigel.Very nice subdued blues and overall colors. Very pleasant to look at.
The metallic foodcans(?) are superb.

Maybe some mudcolored washes on the shoes can help to make them blend with the groundwork and overall appearance.

greets,
RJ

Thanks Neil and Malc(y)

Thanks very much RJ, I was pleased with how the gas mask cans turned out. And you are right, there will be a lot of mud on the figures so I'm not too worried that the shoes aren't that great.

Hi Nigel

Very nicely painted , I like both with the one with the brown trousers and jumper adds much variation

Look forward to seeing more

Happy benchtime

Thanks Kev, Rob and Mario.

Rob, I have a bunch of Napoleonics in the grey army (including some Historex) so I will be interested to try out my acrylics style on those. I've only ever painted them in oils before (in the very distant past).
