Im not sure, without checking, if, post Cardwell Reforms 1880, all the rifle regiments adopted rifle green backing and facings. I dont think, (but I may be wrong!) there were distinctions for the old 60th KRRC.

I could, of course, be wide of the mark on this one!!

Hi Nap. Just back home. Been to see the Levellers in Bournemouth. Cracking gig!

The chap in the colour plate Valiant posted there is Rifle Brigade. You can just make out the RB shoulder title, and the green and black flash on his helmet. The King's Royal Rifle Corps used identical black equipment, but badges of rank had a scarlet backing - both for officers and NCOs - and the shoulder title was KRR on a red backing. They also usually wore the maltese cross badge on the front of the helmet. The picture you posted on the first page shows a KRRC corporal.

Well just had a reply from Nameit ..it has on it 60th but I am changing it to read Rifle Brigade

It's easier to repaint the stripes backing a rifle Green !

Oh the joys ..now looking at green paint !

Hi Nap. Yes. Thats right. The metal shoulder titles up to at least the end of the Great War all have just KRR. The cloth patches from WW2 have KRRC in red on black, though sometimes on rifle green. Army dress regs, you've got to love 'em!
