Hello Ian, when I visit family in Toronto I try to visit “Wheels and Wings” and “Hornet Hobbies”. The figure/bust pickings are slim but I have found a resin figure once in a while. Wheels and wings has a lot of styrene figures.

Guys:

Unfortunately, TO has fallen foul of the same fate as most cities (how was that for alliteration;)) . Ten years ago you would have had the choice of numerous hobby stores including one that was a dedicated figure store (The Sentry Box). There are several R/C hobby stores around but generally, other than a few Warhammer type stores (they appear to continue to do well) and Wings and Wheels, it's pretty much a wasteland. Dave Browne opted for retirement this past year closing the doors on Hornet Hobbies as well.

I am sorry to hear Hornet Hobbies closed. It was a great shop. My wife and I are planning a trip in October to Toronto and was planning to visit. Rats!

You're right. I've been friends with Dave since '88, travelling with him to Chicago annually since '91. He made the hobby a special place for me and him and his partner Trish always made people feel welcome coming into his store.

There's Panther Hobbies in Mississauga that has some figure sets/kits. The best that is still open is Carefree Hobbies in Oakville. Nic is a super guy and REALLY knows his stuff.
Check him out for sure!
