Last years Euro MM was pretty much taken up by the show, not the full special, but a good start.
Hoping we can get the same coverage or more this year.
I know that nice Mr Hopwood will have me working my butt off, getting the figures to be photographed. ( Violins) No piece for the wicked.:(
You're bang on with the numbers, when Kelvin took over he was swamped by folk asking to write AFV articles.
Unfortunately that didn't happen with the figure painters.
Personally I think dropping the Euro Special was a huge mistake, it had to be one of their biggest sellers, as it covered all aspects of the hobby.
Figurines are the only other mag that cover the show, but it was never as good the MM special.

Malc

So, the base line being is that 'Figure Painters', have to step up! and make it so.(y)

Although, as you say time and commitment to do this will be the variable between success and failure.:(

High Regards,

Mark.

To be a honest it was a mixture of both, the decision to drop the Euro and figure special was the magazines, but in doing so some of the other writers decided that they would no longer supply articles, at that time myself included. Unfortunately that led and made way for the AFV brigade. Not good.
Since then though they magazine has realised their mistake, and want to try and get the balance restored. It's going to take them a lot of effort.
But i'll try and do my bit. Mick has given me the idea of devoting some articles for beginners, which I hope would be welcome.
As for the MM AFV forum members complaining about the Waterloo anniversary issue, that doesn't surprise me one iota.

I'm very fortunate that I belong to a model club where everybody, no matter what they specialize in, appreciates what everyone else does.

I can't wait to see Mark in his Cyber Elf get up :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:.
Seriously though, I would love to contribute articles for magazines, but I wouldn't know where to start, what to wright how to write it. How to spell write? What to photograph and when and then how the hell do I use a camera??? Then of course there is how to cope with the inevitable rejection letters (or in my case volumes:().
Writing articles is a very definite skill all on its own.
I think for a lot of us, it's not a matter of can't be bothered, it's more a case of daren't try :(:(!
Best wishes, Gary.

Hi Gary
I know it seems a bit daunting to write and article, but once you've got the first one done, they become easier as you progress.
As for rejection letters, I don't give a monkeys about them, you can't please everyone.
But if you've helped just one person, then you've nailed it.
We'll have little chat at FW / Euro if you like. (preferably over a pint):)
I won't be twisting your arm, its entirely up to you if you want to have a go, and remember we're always here to help.

Now Mark in a Cyber Elf suit..... that could inspire me to write an article on what Modellers do in their spare time.

With regards to rejection letters Gary,I think you should take Malc's advice, there's always going to be people that like to criticise and listen to their own voice,I've seen your sculpting in he flesh mate and it's great, you should go for it,like malc says, once youv'e done it once you won't want to stop :)

It's the forgetfulness that gets to me too.
I asked my son if he recorded a programme I wanted to watch, but couldn't remember the title.
It was called "Unforgettable" how could I forget.....
Don't answer that.
