A site based on (I think) the 101st Airborne in WWII. It was a REALLY good site. Un fortunately, I can't even post a link now..............

Jim,
The webmaster and author, Mark Bando (anybody catch him on the History Channel documentary "Brothers in Arms"?), posted about 1 month or so ago that he's had a series of problems with the webspace provider. Most of the times, it's a problem with not enough bandwidth. This isn't the first time it's happened.

The link was www.101airborneww2.com

;) Thanks Pete. I figured if anybody would know, you would. Too bad. I guess I was mistaken about my kast visit. Any news if it's down for the count or will it be back?

Thanks,
Jim Patrick

Jim,
I don't think it's down for the count at all. In the past, Mark Bando had been lambasted pretty seriously by a couple of European members and he let loose the idea of shutting down the site permanently. Cooler heads prevailed and the site remained open. There hasn't been any such verbal attacks there recently, so I don't see any reason for him choosing to shut the site down, especially now. If I had to make an educated guess, I'd say his site ran out of bandwidth due to the flood of visitors after the "Brothers in Arms" documentary was aired before Christmas. Just about all the veterans and historians (including himself) that appeared in it are active members of Trigger Time. Okay, back into my foxhole ...

P.S - did you catch any of Don Burgett's stories on there? He too is an active member on that forum. No better reference for Airborne subjects than the veteran himself, eh?

Pete,

I caught that documentary. I thought it was exceptional. At times it looked a little like a video game though. Don Burgett's segments were very good.

No Pete I didn't but, once restored, I will be the dutiful little student and PROMPTLY go back in there to read through it all again. It really is a WONDERFUL site for all of pF. Even if you aren't really into WWII figures, there are some one of a kind fantastic stories in there! I'm sure that Pete or myself will let you all know when it's back up running ;)

Jim,
I found the following posting by Mark Bando about accessing his site:
"This happens near the end of each month-the number of visitors to the site exceeds my monthly allotted band- width, so the site will be down until the 1st day of January.
Probably, I'll purchase additional space soon. Thanks to all, for your patience.
M. Bando"

I also found a back entrance into the discussion forum: http://p198.ezboard.com/ftriggertimeforumfrm1

Hope this helps,

Yeah. I caught the program on the HC. It was very good. I hate to admit that I like the addition of the gaming graphics. HC did a series of ancient battles with the "Enemies of Rome" game graphics that was just outstanding. Also, the actor who played Lt Speiers from BoB was the narrator.

Sorry to hear about the site. I liked the BoB episode comments. The site also pointed me to some hitherto un read biographies, too. :)

Trigger Time is NOT gone. It is likely that the site runs out of bandwidth just days before the end of each month, which is why it shuts down often. If the site doesn't come up, then just wait until the first of the following month and go back to it, it will be there.
