This following link is an example of a very poor introduction and the hallmark of a ``troll'':

The new member's first post at planetFigure started off on a bad foot and devolved further by inflammatory remarks.

Trolling (baiting, fishing a community for negative reaction) won't be tolerated and will be dealt with.

Ah, so desu!

I had seen his original post in the new posts page, but didn't open it, but having read the whole thread, I appreciate more fully Gordy's new "New Member" forums.

Prost!

I agree with you Gordy

I didn't intend to comment on the topic, . . . yet I did read the pages
of the comments. I felt sad and a little down, to see that even here on this
site of such friendly ladies and gentlemen, that it is possible to be drawn into
this kind of a situation.

I'll admit from the get go, that I am an old man. I have had a lot of time to
think about anger and jealousy and envy, and about how those kinds of
emotions should be dealt with; about what is proper behavior, etc. etc.

Like Gordy indicated, I agree that when someone comes to a web site and
shows boorish behavior, it should be ignored. To respond, as I see it, only
give credence to what that person wrote in the first place. I see the class
thing to do, as nothing; to decide not to respond.

And lastly, I'd like to say something about cheap shots. We are protected
mostly, and no one really knows who we are or how to come to our
door step with the intention of punching us in the nose. So some folks
on some web sites take pot shots at others, name calling and all kinds of
other boorish and improper behavior. Because, they know there is no way
that anyone can get back at them. So that activity is what I call a cheap
shot. And the person who does it, does not realize they are really showing
us a lot about them, they really do not want us to know. That they have no
class. Again, I see the proper response as doing nothing.

So that is my opinion, and only an opinion, on the matter.

Just discovered that closed thread now - OMG that guy was funny haha :) it's just priceless :)

but you're right, maybe it is better to ignore that kind of comments.

... That said, I must admit that I now and then post harsh criticisms too here on this forum especially in the "new releases" section ... hm  maybe I shouldn't do that

Oh my goodness, guys! Show me a forum in which everyone speaks pleasantly and supportively otoevery other member and I will show you a forum that is dead from the neck up! Everyone who jumped on young Kermit, including me, had a good time I think. No one was grossly offensive and no one stepped over the lines that define us as "the right kind of guys". I certainly endorse Gordy's policy, even though it deprives us of a sinful pleasure, but I don't think that anyone (including me)who replied to this poor masochistic fool has anything to apologize for. As for those who consider themselves "older and wiser' than the rest of the forum, I am 72, and when I decide that my age makes me able to blandly tolerate every fool out there in silence, I shall arrange for accommodation for my dog, Tucker, and off myself! :D Perhaps Sunny would take him, or my son, David. I don't trust the NSPCA...
