First Congratulations to the Coldstreams for Trooping the 2nd Battalions Colour.
A Few firsts as well Twins as close escort for the colour has to be a first, Senior Drum Major, GSM, and a few others on parade all Coldstreamers. Great job well done.

One Question In the foot guards the only person allowed a beard and it has to be a full set is the Pioneer Sgt. I believe that beards are not allowed in the Household Cavalry. So Why, was Prince Harry although not on parade but in the uniform of the Blues & Royals in the carriage possession wearing a beard. Do the rules not apply to him??

Mick

Mick, maybe he follows the example of Edward VII, GeorgeV, and Prince Micheal of Kent.

They all wore beards when in dress uniform.

PM of Kent for example in uniform of the Light Dragoons and Artillery recently and also the RAF too, and they have the same 'rules' I believe.

Paul.

I think you will find Mick, that without his patronage the London Scottish would no longer exist mate.

Paul.

I wouldn't say that. They along with the London Irish and others are part of the London Regt, Which make up the London Reserve and with the cutbacks in the regular army the government will rely on the TA more & more

As usual Mick there is a lot of sense in what you say.......
thankfully for London.
The London Rehiment still keeps it's volunteers, albeit in bery small numbers.
Other Infantry Battalions around the country, reduced to companies in the late '80's and then platoons in 1990, have since been absorbed and have taken off the official army order of battle and their colours laid up.
Sad to say it is also the case for Yeomanry units too.

Paul.

As for 47% of Kings Troop RHA, being made up of ladies I must say there were some very nice silhouette's in jod hoppers during the 41 gun salute in green park.

Or is that being sexist.

Hi Guys ,

Not sure about her majesty's dress colour !

If you ask nicely she may let you borrow it as ling as she gets it back before Royal Ascot.

M

As usual, it was all beautifully executed, and I, for one, am heartened and proud that there are so many youngsters prepared to serve in our armed forces, in whatever capacity. We should be grateful for their dedication, and not forget them when they need a helping hand.

Alan

Dont get me going on him, A Royal Prince, and the best he can get is a TA company The London Scottish Rifles. They deserve better.

I thought the same. A friend who was a Royal Marine said that he completed his training but stepped out at the last minute because he did not want a career in the Services.............

There's a reason we called them "The Regents Park Pony Club"! :)

I believe The London Regiment has been made the first volunteer part of the Household Division. It's possible that they will start to were the Guards backing to their cap badges. The musicians, pipes and drums were part of the H/Div's Beating Retreat ceremony.

Mick,

I did think it a bit unfortunate that one of the twins in the close escort passed out and had to be stretchered off. Nowhere to hide for him.Thought it was a very good parade though.
