Trying to get back to painting

Hey Rocco - I too dropped the brushes for about 5 years. Couldn't do anything. Tried sculpting and everything looked like Mr Bill so all the putty went in the trash within 10 minutes of starting. Couldn't pick up a brush. Looked at figure mags and didn't give a s**t about what I saw. Totally lost it after being obsessed for almost 35 years straight. The only thing I did do was keep coming onto this site one every 2 weeks or so.

Then I decided to sculpt and paint something as a gift for a friend. I committed to him so I was stuck. I had committed and it would have been dishonourable to not finish it. I got it done and now have the bug again. I'm pretty sure that my departure was depression related after the death of my dad and the illness of one of my children. That and a good helping of work stress.

So my advice is to pick something up and just work on it and through it. Be persistent.

Worked for me.

Good luck!

Colin

Rocco, good to have you back mate.

We all get this at some point. I'd suggest 2 things, either do that figure you always wanted to do or something so totally utterly completely different you haven't considered before. A completely different genre, or even, dare I say, a vehicle! (sorry for swearing!)

For instance, I have a Star Wars kit I dabble in every once in a while. One day I will finish it...if the force is with me.

Anyway, give my regards to Geno's....

Thanks Guy, always a pleasure hearing from you. I think I'm going to start painting something soon. Thanks for your advice.
