Review: TS Hobbies Paint Rack & Glue Rack
Paint Rack made from Plexi Glass.
Glue Rack Made from Plexi Glass.
Ok like most modelers and figure painters I have a lot of paint. With Vallejo, Andrea, and others putting their paints in the eye dropper bottles you start to take up room. I had them is plastic boxes all over the place. While surfing Planet figure I came upon Tim Sloan’s TS paint rack. I thought what the heck and ordered one. Now the first one I received was a 72 bottle rack. It was glued together and built very well. Very clean and nice construction. I started adding the bottles to the rack. Here is the first problem I hit. When you start never let the wife or in my case DA BOSS assist. First you find out you have way more than 72 bottles of paint. Second you hear about the number of bottles of paint you have. No problem order another rack. The bottles fit well and with the ends up you can see the colors much better. It helps me anyway.
Now the second rack shows up and it’s a 88 bottle rack. Nice that will hold the rest and give me room for a few more. What DA BOSS don’t know won’t get me hurt lol. The second rack has to be assembled. Now I’ll admit I’m a modeler but the rack was a bit tricky more so because of fat fingers. But I got it together and it’s sturdy and as well built as the first one. The Glue Rack was sent along with the first one and is also well built. It holds 2 round bottles which I have zip kicker in and a bottle of Zap-a-Gap and a small spot I put a tube of super glue in. I mentioned to Tim by e-mail that one for Tamiya super thin glue would be cool and was informed he’s doing one. Great news. Please note I forgot to take the protection film off on the second rack. It’s not frosted. I also had a hanger broken off but as mine will sit on my paint bench no real big deal. If your planning to hang yours you can glue it with Weld-On # 3.
The Racks were $69.99 plus shipping and although some will say that seems high the quality of this item makes it well worth it. Not to mention it gets the paints up out of your way. So if your looking for a way to make room for your paints look into these.
