Good evening Gents. Here is my latest piece- I sculpted the wave master from apoxie sculpt and the surfer from magic sculpt. I then made silicone mould of the wave and cast it in clear resin, coloured with glass paints. Its 1/35

Thanks for looking!

That was really clever....I can't believe how real that waves looks given its a solid lump of resin. Really good.

Colin

Barrie of course! I get disorientated over here! Thanks for your words of support.

Sw good man ( has chester got a football team?)

Colin cheers. I tried to copy the techniques of jean bernard andre on the water effects, and infact he gave me a few tips when i contacted him, good man!

The Depiction of the wave is stunning....the finish looks translucent when at the start it looks like a opaque lump of grey....how did you achieve that ?..Really nice

The grey lump is putty. I made a silicone mould around it, and then threw it in the bin ( the grey lump, not the mould!). I then poured clear resin that I had mixed with a tad of Vitrail glass paints ( turquoise, deep blue and light blue) into the mould in 3 layers and left it 3 days to set. It came out semi translucent and different colours- I was pleased with the effect. The colours shift if you hold it up to the light. I used a bit of builders silicone on top of the resin to mould the wave crest that I painted with white oil paint. I painted the whole thing with artists heavy texture acrylic gel which is glossy and clear ( as I hope is the technique now)

Cheers mate.

Ah.It all becomes a bit clearer now..(forgive pun).....lovely effect and thanks for the explanation will have to give it a go sometime....Kevin

This is an awesome piece!Well done. I would've made the "dudes" hair getting blown back...give it that riding the wind look.
I love this peice.
Ed

Cheers Ed- suppose I could carve it off and do it again... but nah- the guys a poser, he's got highlights in that surf dude, curtain hairdo, so its probaby thick with extreme style water resistant hair gel too!!!!

Cheers Gary, when I did this I thought 'now that's original, you won't see anything like that around.' Then I went to my local model show on Saturday and some guy had done almost exactly the same thing, only in 1/72!!! I was gutted, but I laughed. There is nothing new on the face of the earth!

We've been doing this sort of thing for at least the last five thousand years! Is there really any chance that any of us are actually going to invent anything new?
Best wishes, Gary.
