hello Gary, I have a feeling we spoke at Figure World. Did you have a sculpt of a landsknecht on the table? Forgive me if I am getting confused and you don't know what I am talking about.
TRex and Dekiman- thanks a lot. I did it January 14- felt chuffed with it then, but put it out at Figure World where no one photographed it- so I decided it was rubbish. Euro has made me re think a bit???!!!!?

Somehow missed this before.
Brilliant idea and very well done.

You say the wave is three colours...how did you avoid a sharp edge between the different pourings?

Cheers
Adrian

Gents thanks. Adrian. I stirred just a bit as I poured each layer... That was actually my first casting from the mould I made and I think I got lucky. There were a few bubbles, but that contributes to the watery effect... serendipity, or a happy accident.

Saw this at Euro - a real 'cool dude'. I always wanted to surf down the tunnel, but belly boarding is the limit of my capability!

Mike

must admit I have never been near a surf board in my life. Still I've decided this is my signature piece and its my profile pic on Facebook. I painted my internet avatar ( a scarlet pimpernel) onto his shorts as a design...

Now that takes figure modelling to another level. Superb waves. The painting though needs some extra attention, especially on smoothing the colors.

Xenofon

cirsgt, Romque thanks fellas!

xenofon-many have told me my paint blending is sh** and you're not wrong! Still, others have come to appreciate my sketchy painting style- and do you know what- I don't want to give it up! Looking around the comp room at Euro, I see figure modelling travelling an unwitting path to mere technical performance- and wonderful it is! But wholly bereft of ideas! How many Landsknechts or Napoleonic flag waving scenes do you need?
For better, or worse, I have decided to travel my own path - seeking expression. If I fall flat on my face- so be it!!!

Saw this piece at Euro mil, well done on your award! Euros always tuff so good for you!
just love the water effects, They look like water!! by chance David are you a Surfer?;).

No- never tried to surf. But I see it as symbolic. We are all carried along by the wave, Die Wille, Das Es, the unconscious mind. The surfer is Das Ich, the conscious mind, just trying to stay on his feet most of the time, but hoping for the samhadi moment- when your 'in the green room' or in the tube. In other words 'Tubular Dude'
