The show this year was terrific. I was a afraid that with the imminent WE next month that attendance would be a little down. The tables in the exhibit hall were full and the show seemed well attended. Penny Meyer gave a seminar on painting flats that I'm told was SRO. Chris Morsko's seminar was also as well attended. The show was highly enjoyable with some very nice work on the tables. Fletcher Clement was awarded for his magnum opus Moby Dick diorama. Ron Hilker was elected this year's Tulsa medalist. I hope at some point someone will post a few pictures.

Gimme a little time John, geez! ;)

In all, I've got 7 folders of pictures to go through, covering the weekend, with between 150 and 225 photos in each. So this is going to take me a bit of time to get everything named properly and rotated to their proper orientation, and then run them through Photo Shop. I hope to have them all done by Friday, so I can pass them onto Eric, and we can get them on the club site then. Despite the fact that I wasn't happy with the background or the base cover I used, and the lighting situation was still to much (even though I toned it down as much as I could), I think everyone is going to be really happy with this years pictures.
And I have to give a HUGE pat on the back to Ron Sanders. I took the first picture of the day at 9:20am, and the last one was taken about 5 minutes after the awards presentation started, taking breaks only for taking a leak, getting water, and about an hour off do I could attend the first half of Mrosko's seminar. And Ron was whith me the whole time, running figures back and forth, with only one minor mishap (which I really don't think it was his fault). He put a lot of miles on those shoes and dodged a lot of people and peoples asses as they bent over to look at the displays. I don't think he punched out one person (though I was tempted to, more than once). He went WAY beyond the call of duty, just like you would expect of a Marine. I know he was wore out, and I hope he got a well deserved rest after the show.
Stay tuned guys, and I'll post some pictures here this week. But if anyone has some they want to post in the meantime, feel free to do so.

No pressure Kevin. I was actually hoping one of the more casual photogs would post some stuff.

Now get off the internet and edit those photos

After the weekend, I'm too pooped to write too much about the show. I hope that I can get some work done on my real job today! The show was a great success---all the exhitiors are congratulated --- the work on display was fanatasic!
Thanks to all HMSNEOers who work so hard!
More later!

I just want to echo Mark and John and Kevin's comments-I was blown away by the quality of the work. I also want to add my thanks to Ron Sanders and to Kevin for the photo work. While Kevin has been an HMSNEO stalwart for many moons, and has always been dependable for the cause, Ron is a relative newcomer and has immersed himself in making the show a better experience, and we and show are all much better for his efforts. To all the modelers who spent some of their precious vacation to attend our somewhat out-of-the-way event, thanks a bunch!TULSA IN '06!--

I think alot of us are recovering from this past weekends show but I wanted to take a minute to post a comment about the Fantastic Tulsa club that recently became my home club after moving to the Oklahoma area. Being a longtime member of many of the eastern clubs, I was amazed to see the great hospitality that the Tulsa club members show to everyone they greet at the show that is not seen at many of the larger club shows. Their Hospitality in putting on a show that has brought such quality in painted / sculpted figures outanks any show I have attended in years. The entries were down.......yet the quality was up, even over last year. I expect the closeness of the expo has something to do with the quanity of exhibited figures but the quality far exceeded any of the 3 previous years I have attended the Tulsa club. It seems that the guys at Tulsa have raised the bar...........and many clubs should take note and follow suite in going all out to make a fantastic show happen. I know first hand what is involved in putting on a Figure show and my hat is off to all the guys in Tulsa...........one fantastic show!!!!!!

Looking forward to "Tulsa 06"

now...back to my heating pad.......

A very good show and a very good time for da wenchman. It was worth the 700 mile drive from south Texas to Tulsa and the 700 mile drive back to south Texas. Congrats to my buddy Fletch C. and his "Moby Dick" (it was a big one) for Best of Show. Me and the "flying flea" will see you all at TULSA 2006.
