I'm pleased to bring you my Euro Militaire release for 2014.

With the anniversary of the outbreak of World War One upon us I really wanted to offer something that remembered the outbreak of the war.

Christmas Truce 1914 is an interpretation of that unique event in 1914 that sadly was not to last. The scene is designed to reflect that man can put aside differences and commemorates the men and women of all nationalities that suffered between 1914 and 1918.

TW54S01 - The Christmas Truce, 1914
Sculptor: Nino Pizzichemi

With every set of figures I will provide a 4 page A5 booklet that offers a brief background in to the story that inspired this scene when the 1st Bn Royal Warwickshire Regiment and the 134th Saxon Infantry Regiment faced each other. This booklet also contains an illustrated guide to painting German uniforms.

I was inspired to create the scene from the book 'We meet at dawn unarmed' the diary of Captain Robert Hamilton of the 1st Royal Warwickshire Regiment. My own Great Grandfather served in the Great War in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment (although 2nd Bn and after the truce). With the Warwicks being my family regiment this release is very personal to me.

I hope you enjoy the scene. Please bear in mind it is deliberately designed as a historical interpretation of an event, not a literal piece. My sincere thanks to Nino Pizzichemi for a wonderful interpretation of this event and to Günther Sternberg for his help and advice with German uniforms and providing such wonderful box art.

The figures are available on my website at www.tommyswar.com and I will be at Euro Militaire on the 20th and 21st September in Folkestone.

Superb Darren, I think you will do really well with this one. The booklet is a nice touch as well. See you in Folkestone!
