Hi all,

Finally finished the Nuts Planet bust of 'The Imp'.
The sculpting of the face is spot-on and the detailing on the jacket is fantastic, and beyond my abilities to give it the finish it truly deserves.
I really enjoyed painting this one and it's now sitting alongside his father, Tywin.

Cheers,
Andrew

Hi Andrew
Nice work, with some great muted skin tones, I think you have very well with it. I have this one coming so I hope I have as much fun as you did painting it

Hi Andrew! Beautiful work! You nailed this one. Would you mind sharing how you painted his hair? I've been looking for exactly this mix. (y)(y)

Thanks,
Gary

Gary, Paul,

Thanks for looking, and your kind comments.

Gary,

The base colour for the hair was a mix of Humbrol matt enamels. The two main colours were 186 (Brown) and 103 (Cream) with a small addition of 46 (Orange … one of the new range) and a touch of 60 (Scarlet). Unfortunately I do not have a precise ratio as I tend to mix until I get the colour I’m after. You’ll need to be careful not to add too much of the Orange / Scarlet or you might end up with a ginger mop top.
I then applied a couple of washes of burnt umber oil paint until I achieved the shadows that I was after. Then it was back to the Humbrols, drybrushing lighter and lighter mixes of 103 / 186.
I did have a slight gingery effect which I overcame with a thin overall application of the highlight, which also blended everything together.

Cheers,
Andrew
