Couldn't agree more

just to clarify more,
this bust is not depecting Erich Topp.
its a generic U-Boat commander using the exact insignia of U-552 (red devil).

@Jay:
After the regulations even u-boat commanders had to wear the blue "Schirm-Mütze" for officers or the so called "Schiffchen".
Here is a picture of Erich Topp wearing such a "Schiffchen"....:

The white cap for Commanders was not regular but mode!

-----------------------------------------------------

@Andreas:
A "U-Boat-Commander" with the badge of U-552 can not generic or "fictive", for this boat had only two commanders...:

Erich Topp (December 1940 up to 31. August 1942) and Kapitänleutnant Klaus Popp (9. September 1943 up to 10. July 1944)

I can see a little likeness of the bust to Erich Topp, but absolutely no likeness to Klaus Popp...:

Sorry - to sculpt a "generic commander" you should have left off the badge. It was worn only by this two commanders.

Cheers

Martin all the historical data you mention is well -known
i still wanted to produce a "fiction" u-boat commander using the red devil insignia.

Nice Bust,look like Erich Topp,but if you want to produce a "Fiction" u-boat commander, why choose a so well known insigna?.....but is still a nece piece

So you mean that if i use not so "well known insignia" it woul be allright to do a "fiction" commander???
that does not make any sense cause every different insignia coresponds to actual persons and u-boat crews.
so either you depict them as they were exactly or you can keep their insignia /uniform/equipment and do a "fictional" character based on their history.
After all its a matter of minutes to remove the insignia if you dont like them .

Sorry - a bit of research could have helped!

The famous "sawfish-badge" for example, that at first - in green - only from U-96 (Kapitänleutnant Hinrich Lehmann-Willenbrock, the template for the movie "The Boat") was worn, was from 1942 to 1944 the insignia of the 9th Submarine flotilla (in Brest, France), as Lehmann-Willenbrock was appointed commander of this flotilla.

There it was in several different colors (black, green, red, white) from a number of different submarines worn - and also as a badge on the caps of their Crews and commanders.

This badge would have been far better suited, because it would have just given a number of alternatives for a "fictional" commander.

Cheers

Dear sirs i have to inform you -since i have done the historical research- that all the above information was found and beleive me i research from the smallest detail so the sculptor has a clear image of what to sculpt(Martin i respect very much your opinion since you are one of the few who does his research and provides documentations).Mr Motsios wanted a more generic figure and not a specific u-boat commander and as so this is the bust you see with all the details of the unifom correct apart the whole 100% likeness to Topp.The options are simple
a.Paint it as ir is (there is some likeness with Topp)
b.Scrape off the insignia(matter of seconds) and paint one u-boat commander(real character or reenactor)with any insignia you like.
c.Do not purchase it at all if you do not like it.

JasonB as for the left/right hand photographic evidence was provided but i guess it was fiction too.And nobody forced you to bye from as.Take care and thank you for your kind remarks and opinion.
