Love this figure and your rendition of it is sensational John - the wrinkles have been accented perfectly and the face is stunning.

Not a stupid question at all Adrien - I think he's meant to be grasping/leaning against the propeller of a fighter (Corsair, Hellcat, etc.) - may be an idea for a wedgie in there somewhere. Personally, I think I'll re-sculpt that hand to have him holding up fingers to indicate the kills from his latest mission (I don't trust my plane modelling skills enough to try a wedgie although even sculpting 3 l'il ol' fingers may stretch me to the limit as well...;) )

Thanks for sharing John - ordering mine up right now!

Cheers,

Brian

You could also model a piece of wreckage, like the skin of a Zero's wing, for example, that he holds up. That would be easy enough to do with a piece of tin.

How did you do the goggle lenses, by the way? Were they cast hollow or solid? On my 1/48 aircrew, I use gloss brown, since they're always molded filled, and it's too hard to try to reproduce clear lenses in such small scall.

Prost!

Thanks Brad, the goggles are hollow. I used Vallejo gloss medium with various shades of brown and blue to try and capture the glass lenses, I always use some blue as to simulate a bit of reflection of the sky.
