Hi everyone, I'm a newly registered member. I had never even heard of PlanetFigure until recently. Let me give you a quick history of my hobby: I started out with 1/35 Tamiya stuff back in the '70s, started converting them into new poses and uniforms (kitbashing, I guess), then around 12 years ago was introduced to epoxy putty. I started sculpting my own figures, usually based on a neat color plate from a uniform book. My skill still isn't great enough to do faces, hands, and complex weapons and equipment, which I get from my scrap box, but I've gotten pretty good at creating all new uniforms. This was great, because I tend to be interested in little known conflicts since 1945, and there seems little or no chance that any figures based on the same will ever be commercially released. For example, I'm working on a Police Aboriginal Guard from Malaya circa 1956. Recently I discovered the hobby of moldmaking using RTV rubber and resin casting. I figure if it takes me six months, on-and-off, to sculpt a figure it only makes sense to make more than one copy of it, especially when there's no guarantee that my paint job on the original will be satisfactory. I've gotten pretty good at this (all ten fingers present on my latest creation!). Recently I started offering these figures for sale on E-bay, where around a dozen have been bought and they've gotten very good comments. One of my customers said I ought to either create my own website or register here at PlanetFigure. That was a tantalizing suggestion, since having given this website a look I'm hoping that this is just the place where I could contact the sort of modellers who would be interested in such exotic figures. But I certainly don't want to offend anybody. Since my figures aren't 100% original, would I be accused of "piracy"? It's not the money which is most important to me, it's the satisfaction I get that I won't be the only person who gets some enjoyment out of the figures which I worked so hard on (and I'm not the only one who is into such exotic history). Still, I gotta pay bills just like anybody else. If I did all the math, I wouldn't be surprised if I was barely breaking even money-wise. Anyway, what should I do now? Does a 1/35 scale figure of a Portuguese soldier serving in Angola or Mozambique intrigue anyone here?
