Action-packed scene. Is this scene based on real events around the Marne 1914?

Hello Martin

The battle of the Marne was a mobile battle prior to the beginning of the stalemate trench warfare which followed. There were many small engagements during the battle. The Irish Guards were part of the BEF and I believe they came into contact with the 3rd Guard Uhlan Regiment. On 6th September 1914 they captured a trumpet belonging to the Uhlans which is now on display in the Imperial War Museum. It is inscribed 3GHR (3rd Guard Uhlan Regiment)

A print is also attached depicting Irish Guards beating back a German Uhlan attack.
Cheers
Gordon
