"The name is linked to Samuel Wilson, a meat packer from Troy, New York, who supplied barrels of beef to the United States Army during the War of 1812. Wilson (1766-1854) stamped the barrels with “U.S.” for United States, but soldiers began referring to the grub as “Uncle Sam’s.” The local newspaper picked up on the story and Uncle Sam eventually gained widespread acceptance as the nickname for—and personification of—the U.S. federal government."

Like I said on P&P, Lorenzo, the theme presented doesn't fit the title, it’s political in nature. You are insinuating that Uncle Sam in this presentation is a national symbol of killing, not an actual butcher. I don’t think Sam the butcher would be dressed like that, do you? But, like all political bust’s or figures, there’s going to be somebody who doesn’t like it. T’sall good.

It is in vogue, in fashion, to diss on America right now, so maybe this will sell quite well. As a Patriotic American, I see this as an afront, but maybe that’s just me.

Cheers, Ski.

P.S. If this bust had another name, like say, "The Shot heard round the World", or similar, you wouldn't have the need to explain yourself with that title explanation. Just sayin;)

I have to agree with Ski: an unfortunate title for what looks like a very nice bust. I have to doubt that many people, if any, would know of or understand the background story.
