Hi,

I was looking for suggestions for decent and not too expensive references for Fallschrimjager camo and wermacht splinter camo. Any tips?

Gareth:

Try and get your hands on Europa Militaria #17 (Wehrmacht Camoflage Uniforms) ISBN 1 85915 005 5. Osprey size book but 64pp of re-enactors in full colour photos. They also have others in the series on panzer ((#13), Waffen SS (#6) and Waffen SS camoflage (#18) uniforms.
As for paras try German Paratroopers by Robert Kurtz (Schiffer Military Press). A bit expensive but it is probably the only book you will ever need on the topic of their uniforms and equipment.

Merry Christmas
Paul

Definately pick up Ospreys latest painting book. Its written by two of pF's members, Dani Alfonsea and Jaume Ortiz and it covers German Paras WWII. Awesome book for sure.

Hello,

I will just mention that the above mentioned book covers every major pattern of Fallschirmjäger camouflage, presented through extensive s-b-s sequences, plus colour charts.

If you need uniform references, the one by Kurtz is certainly good on FJ, but if you want more general camouflage sources, then pick "Camouflage Uniforms of the German Wehrmacht", by Pallinckx, edited by Schiffer too. These books are expensive and maybe do not correspond to what you are asking for here, but are very recommendable. Jaume and I used them as part of the specialized bibliography for our book, in particular as far as camouflages are concerned, if this serves as a hint.

Regards,

Dani

Hi Dani,

your book arrived in the post yesterday. While I am up to my neck getting ready for Santa's visit to my two kids, one thing that jumped off the page at me was the recommendation never to "make up" a camouflage pattern.

Hence the search for a decent reference. I will give serious consideration to the book you mentioned. It seems to pop up on all google and bookshop searches I have done!

Thanks to all!
