150mm or 1/12 scale

The Civil war bust is done in 1/12 scale as were all of the old busts I did for Kirin and Jaguar in the "old days". It is amalgam of bits from my scrap box along with a bit of new sculpting.

It was inspired by many of the period Carte d' visite photos that show soldiers in belligerent poses holding weapons against their chests.

I just thought that this would be a fun idea. I have also included four different alternate heads to change the appearance of the figure. Of course, the figure can be painted as confederate or union. Also included are a cavalry hat along with infantry hats and one bare head.

Hopefully you guys will like this idea and buy a bunch of them from John Lea at United Empire who has been such an asset to our hobby for the past several years!!

Cheers!!

Heads and hats

Hello,

I think you have captured the carte-de-visite style very well, down to the obligatory stern look. The faces are approppriate for the period, too, which is a concept not always understood.

Do all 4 heads come separate from the 3 hats?

Regards,

Daniel

I believe the hats are designed to fit specific heads and are not interchangeablre in that sense without a little fitting work. The kit includes all heads & hats.

yes, hats are separate

Like John said, they are designed to fit specific heads. However, it is quite easy to cut off the mounting lugs and refit them to different heads in the set. Some adjustments may be necessary to make them fit perfectly. But this is not in the realm of major work.

The heads were carefully selected for their individual character. The painting does not get this across so much. I was also careful to make the hair-dos period correct. Hell, that's my job!!

Sorry about the bad photo links, here are some new ones.......

Cheers!!

Mike great job one question

The Civil war bust is done in 1/12 scale as were all of the old busts I did for Kirin and Jaguar in the "old days".

What ever happened to the busts you did for Dragon models the WW I Aircraft series and are you or would you ever do something like that again ?

Dragon Busts

Those Dragon busts belong to Dragon. It is up to them whether they ever release them again or not.

You can still find them. You might try message boards that specialize in WWI aircraft. There are a lot of guys who bought the kits for the model and have no interest in the busts. I am sure they will let them go for cheap!

WWI aces are still an area of interest for me, so yes, there is a possibility of more these in the future. Time will tell.....
