F533 Unwatered Steppe Grass
7"X11" sheet

MS 01.JPG

Model Scene brings to us a groundwork product in a large 7" by 11" sheet and simulates various growth additions that are very similar to unwatered Steppe Grass. The sheet comes in a clear hard plastic bubble and is easy to cut the matt once it is opened.

Below you see a couple of swatches I cut from the mat for photographic purposes and they clearly show a mixed vegatation growth that would add realism to any figure or vignette.

Below is a frontal photo showing the varied heights of the different grasses in the matt.

Conclusion:
An excellent product for adding realism to any figure composition.
Highly recommended.

Question;
is this to be used as just a mat, or is it something that can readily be 'broken' apart to conform to the terrain a figure may be based on?

I am guessing it may be trimmed, its just that many bases have a rolling or multi-layered geography.

Either way, its definitely a step up from the static grass thats been around for so long...Hooray!:D

cheers

Jamie, I visited with Guy yesterday and he showed me this product. There ARE static grass-like fibers on the mat but long and relatively soft. It is the depth of the mat that interests me; pretty close to 1/8 inch or about 8-10mm. It is much like the material that Scotch Brite pads or common "green" abrasive pads that have additonal texture materials (grass, low cover, etc.) on it. It looks just as effective for real as it did to me in the photos from Guy's review, I just need to cogitate on it for a while to figure out the way to use it best. Personally I think it has much potential.--

Thanks for the additional observations
something else to add to the materials box.

It will add a great deal to bases, as natural vegetation (with the exception of the average lawn) comes in variety of lengths and textures....

cheers
