My current project is a conversion of the Special Ops Models sniper with the 50cal Barrett rifle. I’ve added a heavy beard, shemaugh, and medical scissors, and beefed up his forearms. The Barrett is being replaced by a modified Reedees M249. Much work remaining on this one.

Hi Kurt

That's a impressive bit of conversion , a lot of detail on the actual piece , nice painting on the subdued patches as well as the camo

Great beard as well

Thanks for sharing

Look forward to seeing more

Happy benchtime

Wow! I like the beard and the shemagh, it really adds to the character. Beefing up the arms as well, as it takes quite some muscle to wield the weapon.

At first I thought what a shame to replace the Barrett as it is a work of art, but the M249 looks absolutely stunning. Oh, I wish Andy from Special Ops would see this one, I really miss their figures.

Well done Kurt!

Best,
Mario

Thanks, Mario,

I have modified the Reedees M249 with several components from Special Ops - the optical sight, the target designator, and the fore grip. I shared a few photos with Andy the other day in fact.

He’s working on some new figure projects and has posted photos online of some of the equipment he has created for them. I’m looking forward to seeing them too.

Thanks again,
Kurt

Thanks, Nap,

I created the ISAF patch on the cap, using a modified “USAF” aircraft decal. I hand painted the Afghan language script at the bottom of the patch (sorry, but I’m not sure what dialect it is). The other patches are decals from one of Special Ops Models decal sheets.

Lovely Job on the figure conversion Kurt, really like what you have done with the M249, looks great.
Cheers

Thanks, Steve,

I’m a big fan of your weapon sets. They are very nicely done and fill a significant niche in our hobby. I have several others in my stash and I’m looking at some other opportunities to use them in figure and bust conversions. Keep up the great work on these!

Thanks Kurt will look forward to see what you do with the other weapons, my intention when I decided to make the weapons was for people to be able to convert/sculpt their own figures/busts like you have done.
Cheers
