Just got home from the Long Island Historical Miniatures Collector's Society Show and picked up a couple flats.

Saw some flats finished based "loosley" on Boris Valejo's illustrations but was unable to talk to the painters.

Anybody in this august forum who can help me find some fo these flats?

Thanks

Hi Doc,

I had the "Embracing Evil" flat at the LI Show. Sorry I did not get to meet you!

In any case, I get most of my flats from Carl Gruen, who was also at the LI show. If you bought flats, it was probably from him. Carl has a very wide range of flats on all subjects. If you are looking for something he does not have, he can probably guide you.

Carl has a number of psudo-Boris flats that have minor variations from the original Boris paintings. I have always assumed these variations were used to avoid copyright violations. If you know the painting my flat is based on, there was a snake and not a grave marker at the base of the embrace.

I like fantasy flats and have always been happy with Carl's selection. He also has some nice German flats of fairy tale subjects and flats of other subjects such as planes and trains.

There is site in Germany that has a good deal of flats of all kinds. If you like, I can try to find it for you. Most of the stuff there is 30mm - which is too small for my old eyes. I have never purchased from this site, but you might find it of interest.

Good Luck to you.

Pat
