Hi all PF friends,

I am in progress of a new confederate figure and I am interested in making a little river in the botton of the base. Sometimes I got the "Vallejo's Still Water" and I wonder what is the better way for using it in order to create a river (two fingers depth...). Can anyone tell me the way for doing that? How must I paint it?

All your help is wellcome

Thanks,

Rafa

Rafael,
I think Costas is using this stuff, so i hope he drop's in.
For myself, i really don't know because i use Resin. Last time i painted under it with oils and that was wrong. So if you have to paint under the water do it with acrylic.

Rafa under painting of the bottom must be with acrylics soit will not be lift off. I use 2 parts epoxy glue transparent form , like Araldit, or BISON, or othewr brands , as it dries quickly. Valejjo product is nice and can be colored with water soluble paints, but gets too late to get dry .

Epoxy glue can be painted with oils nicely but just use tiny bits of paint

Anything more just ask me , as i have used every possible material for water !!!

Costas

You can paint the base with acrylics and let it dry.
Before this you should put Scotch (i think it is the name, it is a tape with low tack) tape around the base and inside whith a brush put white glue on the union of the tape with base and let it well dry, this process prevent posible escape the Valejo Still Water from the base.
Now you can start work with Valejo still water placing a very thin layer of Valejo Still Water and let it well dry, only when is well dry (it depends on the temperature but I think a couple of days will be needed) you can place another layer and wait it will be well dry and so on until you get the height that you want.

I hope i have help you and excuse my English!!

I forgot to say: I personally prefer cristal resin although it is "smelly" i think the result more realistic.
