Hard on the heels of that "other" dio, realised a long overdue project.

USMC Tank Crewman, Iwo Jima, 1945

Its the oldy but goody Francois Verlinden #293 US Marine Tank Officer/Pacific. (Okay, replaced the head/face with a Hornet one, kept the tankers helmet though...)
As these old VL figures are a bit to big imho for use in a dio but still nicely sculpted (the ones with the Belgian flag on it...) , they certainly deserve a place as a single on vignettes like this!
Base is built with a part of an old Tamiya Sherman M4A3 and scratch built it up as the ones from that certain battle. (No particular tank in mind).

Very nicely done, really like the camouflage trousers and his weary worn demeanour. The old Verlinden stuff were pretty good, especially the huge choice they gave.
