Hi Guys ,

For me the beauty of the V12 range is the way the piece flows to the base , I reckon they will look good on about 35x35 x 70 high straight base ..hope it makes sense .....

I am also totally lost with the Scottish stuff ...well I am english ...steady guys !!!!

Nice paintjob on the frontiersmans Ron

Hello Ron, Just a few suggestions on your plinth problem, maybe the problem isn't the plinth at all, but perhaps the base itself. Maybe using a plinth style base, giving the bust some height might work. A wooden candle holder, cut to the proper height could solve this, Like you, I enjoy different type of wood patterns, and styles. Wooden candle holders, as you already know, come in many styles, shapes, and sizes. A spiked version would look good, cut in the right place, and worked down to a round, or square base for a nameplate. I looked online, and there so many to choose from. I have a few examples to post, I simply typed: images of wooden candle holders, and found hundreds of them. Perhaps narrowing the approach to the plinth, and the bust itself, would show more of your great work on it. I'll be checking out the drawer knobs in the St. Magnus Hotel, Aberdeen before next crew change. ;)

Why don't you both get together go down to the local junk shop and see if you can get some old wooden switch and socket pasterns " you the know stuff we used to base models on in the early seventies" If you teamed up you might be able to strike a bargain at a penny each

Good thinking Ron.... keep an eye out for mega- expensive bargain figure bases on ebay. ;)

Let's say it

Good painting
For such a "bust" with emptied back
Best, I could think, is a base cubic, cut at an angle, figure on a rood, placed at the low level of the angled face, this one providing a " backround" concentrating the view on the figures and not distracting it .

My view is the shortening of the integral cast base by about 10mm and mounted on a narrow wood plinth no more than 38mm square ,if you go much smaller than this it would be better round in order to keep one's fingers away from router blades as it is not practical to use a push rod on a plinth bottom of no more than 58mm " the extra 20mm required for the profile "

So far every one of these little gems pictured here has not shown the whole figure complete with base apart from this one in the thread .

Careful now Miro you might get to like busts . Might like /might buy /but wont . :D

I'd tend to stick with the type of plinth as in the photograph but that's mainly because I'd want somewhere to place a nameplate.

Hello Ron, I'm planning to do Stormtroopers SS Officer V Bust soon, and plan to cut the supplied plinth into a v-shape, with the tip of the v going into the base, sort of a v-on-v shape. Have to wait until I get the bust, to see if its possible, but looking at yours, I think it may work. I also found a great looking base to use with it. I want to do a black version of this base, with a silver nameplate, and black lettering, to go with the theme of the piece. Here is the base, the website is on the picture. I was looking for a narrower top to the base, and this has one. Regards, SG:);)(y)

that looks like a good idea ,esp if you paint it black which will draw the eye away from its ornate shape . only point I would think about it being black is that the uniform is black too
