Hi Guys

Here is the result of a very valuable experience I have have had, my first real flat, its one of Roys, the Pantaloon, a cracking piece from Roy. from this I can safely say that from my point of view acrylics realy are not the medium to paint flats in, they realy lend themselves to the blend characturistics of oils. But it was a brilliant experience to paint and a real joy. I have a few things to finish off but its almost there........

Thanks Roy

Dave

Dave, Nice work. Don't be shy about punching up those high highlights. I really like the red. What did you use? ~Gary

Looks great, Dave! (Can't imagine what you'd have done with oils! :) ) There are some pretty great flat painters out there, such as Peter Ferk, who use acrylics, so there's no need to switch media. Keep up the good work.

Hi Gary

Cheers mate, they are the Andrea, Napoleonic Red as a base, Napoleonic Green added for shadows and Orange to the red for highlights......

Hi PJ

I think its because I have to go further with the shading thatn I am used to to bring out the shape and volume of a flat than a round piece

Dave

Great job mate........and acrylics on a flat eh??!! Well it must be either the flat or you

Joking apart Dave, really outstanding paintwork :)

Ray ;)

Hi Dave,

excellent paint job!

The reds are awesome. I really like the realistic appearance of the colours on your figure. To often the colours are to gaudy and don’t match the natural dyes used in those times.

Keep on painting
Andreas
