Whats available , is there a decent water based one as I dont want to spend hours degunking the brush
also can it be applied with a brush without lifting of gold powder product paints
Go to your nearest hobby center, go to the paints department between paints for interior or exterior or bathroom or ... ask the seller a matt or satin or glosy ( you choice ) varnish in spray can, you can even find plastic film in spraycan ( in an electronic spare piece shop ) or see https://www.amazon.co.uk/Teslanol-Protective-lacquer-Plastic-spray-packing/dp/B001C5CSYI
( aspect is more satin/glossy ), I tryed that 45 years ago it's still perfect, no yellowing, no decaying but result seems OK to me mainly for protecting wargame's figures ( those you handle so frequently )

I have used Halfords Matt Lacquer rattle can but only on my 28mm Wargames figures.
The contents are for use over enamel etc but to date no problems over painted acrylics on Perrys etc.
