Hi,

I am thinking of painting this one next but I have a couple of questions..

Can the helmet and armour be painted silver or gold?

What animal is the headdress? I have been looking and looking and can't decide if it's a bear or a lioness!

Thanks,
Edward

Hi Ed

I don't see any reason why the helmet and scale armour could not be painted either silver or gold.

From: http://www.erminestreetguard.co.uk/Officer Write Up Page SIGNIFER.htm

"The Legions seem to have used bear or wolf skins, the skins of large cats appeared to be reserved for the Emperors bodyguard in Rome."

I think its a bear on the Verlinden bust, but I am sure I last saw it in front of a fireplace somewhere! :)
