Hello

Like to present to you my finished dio, diverted after a couple of pics (WH, i know...) I found and wich I included on the base.

As I think figures always 'make' a dio ,I might as well post it here :cautious::D

The title is a pun (from verlustreich=losses) related to 'Das Recih' Pz div losses, during a short but heavy recon mission what is evident from the wounded and confused/disorted soldiers.
Most of the figures are modified, from slighty (just a head) to big mods (the ones on the Sdkfz's hood)using Alpine, Warriors, Tristar and arms and limbs from mostly Dragon (I believe) + lots of Magic sculp.
All have Hornet (exept one Alpine...) heads.
Almost everything on the dio is made myself; windmill, plough, millstone, cornfield wagonwheel as is the farmers tools.
Plants are form Fredericus Rex and Kamizukuri (daisy,poppys nettle) and roots and stuff from my garden. The yellow ones were made with sawdust fron a small yellow container and gleud on seeweed!

By the way, is the windmill scratchbuilt and how was it painted to look like weathered wood? I'm afraid I don't understand the Dutch language.

The whole diorama is outstanding, the groundwork and buildings are superb. I see more every time I look.
Wow, the whole thing is stunning, very well done and I love it and its not even my period of choice.

@Gary; Yes, the windmill is scratch build (as is almost everything on this dio...). Primed with Gunze 1200 and direct on this (after drying!) I treated the whole mill with Ivory Black oil paint, painting in a downwards method. Always along with the wood grain, with a slightly thinner moistened brush. Some planks taken of more paint then others, so you get an old, weathered effect. Then painting the nails in a rust-color with stains ect. That's about it...:cool:

@Bob; Could addapt it, even way back to the Napolic era, just leave the SPW and figs away and replace them :D:D

I like it a lot Erik.
Nice composition and excellent attention to detail, like the dirt/mud from the boots on the fender...and the butterfly!

Which product did you use for the tall grass...is that from Fredericus Rex?
It is nicely 'bushy' but I'm surprised the ends are a bit straight...perhaps not noticable when seen life-size!? Doesn't distract from the ovrall great result though.

@Adrian; The gras is made out of 'real' synthetic/artificial grass cut to size. I had to cut it down a litlle so that's why there are some staight ones. Yes, not very noticeable in real, these pic are extremely close :wideyed:.
It looks a bit overscale also, but I realy like this stuff because if you go smaller (paintbrush hairs o.s.)it will look like a green teddybear the SPW and figs are standing in:) Look here http://www.ebay.de/itm/351706523274?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT.
There must be some similar products in other country's.
