Hi,

I have just found out through the basement forum the very sad news that Charles Davis has passed away.

Charles was the organiser behind Euro Militaire, but also proof read for articles and reviewed kits and loved victorian/napoleonic miniatures.

Many may not know he also used to have a lovely little model shop in sandgate ,kent not far from Folkestone.

He was always a joy to be around, cracked jokes and loved a whisky as those that were at euro last year may remember. I was supposed to be having a little competition with him this year to see who could bring the best one.

As you may guess I feel saddened at his loss, and would ask all that can and knew this lovely gentleman to raise a wee dram tonight to a great loss to this hobby and to the world we all live in.

Euro, will not be the same. My sincere condolences to his family.

Stuart

I have not met him but I always get upset when this sort of thing happens. I'll pray for his family and friends?

We are such a tiny community that the loss of any one of us, let alone one of such benefit to all is indeed sad. Condolences to family and friends.

I did not know Mr Davis but I am always sad when one of our community passes away. I wish to add my condolences to his family and friends.

Just read this as I was away on holiday and I am shattered !!!
Charles truly was one of the best and such a laugh !!! Euro-Militaire will not be the same without his voice speaking over the microphone.Such a great person !!
R.I.P Charles you were loved by many and will be missed by many.
Regards
Pete

That is VERY sad news.

I can't really claim to have known him personally (I've spoken to him briefly at EuroMil I think three times in all) but I think it's fair to say that to many who attend EuroMil he was the face of the show ("Mr. EuroMil"), and that without him there might never even have been a Euromil. As Pete says, his presence on that stage will be greatly missed.

May he rest in peace.

- Steve

My deepest condolances to Mr. Davis's family members on this sad occasion of theirs.
Another Great modeler has gone on to join the rest in the Heavenly Realms above .
RIP, Mr. Davis.
Kenneth.
