That's interesting-I didn't know the Germans had any aiguillettes or lanyards of any kind worn on the left side. Adjutants wore one on the right, and the marksmanship lanyard was worn on the right side, as it still is today. What's the significance of the aiguillette this Schütztruppen officer is wearing?

Both the figure and the bust are fantastic - there are way too few Imperial German army and Schutztruppe figures out there. Really tempted here...

I was told this was because of carrying the rifle at the slope. I don't know if it's true though. Did the Germans carry the rifle on the other shoulder? I just looked at Ben's picture above and the Askari(?) has his rifle on his left shoulder.
