Hi all, it’s been a while but I’ve finally finished something. I know a lot of folk weren’t keen on this guy leaping off his boat when it came out as they thought it unrealistic. So I treated him as if he were part of an epic saga, beefed up the colour intensity, didn’t worry about damage/dirt. Anyway, it’s good to get something finished at last, so, here he is, Viking axeman from mj miniatures all in acrylic.

Ah! Thanks John, glad you noticed the wood, I tried something different there. Painted it pale grey then hit it with a ton of different washes/inks then a final quick highlight of pale grey/brown. Was quite pleased with it.

Nice work, I like the use of water to make the connection to land. I have my eye on this kit and I quite like the so called unrealistic jump even though your rendition is the first one i've seen using the supplied boat.

Cheers Zane, it's a great kit, I'd recommend it. I must admit, I found it a little odd when some dismissed it as unrealistic, art has always been this way has it not? Consider these two paintings, same artist, wildly different in their levels of realism. There's room for everything, no need to limit yourself.
