Virgin are putting there internet prices up by £9.00 a month from March so looks like I will be leaving them

You often find when you threaten to leave they magic up a revised price. The line to the account closing dept is the only one UK based, the rest are in India.

Got the same info from them. We've got 3 mobiles, broadband, landline and 2 tv boxes.
Aimed the household SCUD miss(us)ile at them, she came away with a very decent reduction.
We've done this evey time over the years that they in their various guises have hiked the cost or reduced the service.
Usually get a reduction, a better package on tv or at worst a standsill on payments.
Definitely worth arguing.

Call 150 and select the close account option ( option 4 I think). I bet you get a better offer.

She just phones 150 and basically toughs it out until they transfer her to sales (cancellations) that might be in the uk.
Usually phones late afternoon which means its around 9pm in India.
Nothing wrong wit indian staff just makes the inevitable trade off a bit easier.

Telecom companies never "increase" their prices. They only "change" them. You get a letter or an an e-mail saying "our prices are changing". Got that?! Prices aren't "increasing", they're merely "changing".

It's a marketing psy-ops tactic to make the punter subconsciously think that it's not as bad or not as much as it really is. Just a little tweak that you'll barely notice. It's one of the various ways in which companies insult our intelligence and try to take us for mugs.
